ON YOUR 1ST VISIT
On your initial visit you will complete some basic forms relating to the reason for your visit; this usually takes between 10-15 minutes. Following the completion of the paper work, you will have a one-on-one consultation with a licensed physical therapist who will discuss, in detail, the nature of your problems. This discussion will be followed by a thorough evaluation of ranges of motion, muscle and neurological testing, and orthopedic testing. Please allow 60 minutes for each visit. Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing so that your injury site can be easily accessible.
We pride ourselves in being a part of your healthcare team. Here at Bodywise our goal is not to help you recover from your injury it is to help you thrive in life! You should expect the following during each visit:
Teamwork: At Bodywise we believe our patients our the most valuable players on their healthcare team. That attitude starts on the first day, and continues throughout each of your treatments, when our therapists take the time to ask questions and listen to your answers. This allows us to build a picture of what your life was like before your injury. Our number one job is to work with you as a team to achieve YOUR goals.
Maximal Effort: Our physical therapists utilize the most current and proven therapeutic techniques to achieve your goals. Your therapist treats you and ONLY you during your 40-minute slot. This individual one on one attention allows you to get better quicker, saving time and money. Expect treatment time to last 60 minutes between check in/out, 40minute with your therapist, and ending with a therapeutic modality.
Empowerment Through Knowledge: We love to educate at Bodywise! We believe our most important job on day one is to teach you how to decrease your pain and to explain what is causing your pain/limitation. Our second most important job is to empower you to take back control! This happens as we teach you how to help yourself through home exercises, posture training, and education.
Q & A
DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?
NO. New Hampshire has Direct Access for Physical Therapy. Due to legislation passed in the State of New Hampshire you do not need a physician’s prescription for physical therapy services. This is a right granted to better serve the public by allowing physical therapists to serve as an alternate route of entry into health care. Direct access to physical therapy services also saves money for the patient and for the insurance companies by eliminating unnecessary visits to physician’s offices when the purpose is solely to obtain a prescription. It also benefits the public by allowing for more timely identification and treatment of health problems and it has been demonstrated to minimize the necessity of long term care.
Insurance companies will pay for these services as long as you are seeing a licensed physical therapist. Some insurance plans require a referral for reimbursement. Every plan is different. If you have questions about your plan, feel free to call our office or call your insurance plan directly.
